Hotel Mesikämmen is an architecturally valuable hotel in the center of the Ähtäri Tourist Area – just a stone’s throw away from the Ähtäri Zoo. We have 101 rooms, all with a balcony and a lakeview. We are family and pet friendly, but we also take in consideration our guests with allergies providing allergy rooms. We have areas for meetings -big or small.
Our hotel breakfast is served in our restaurant which is located in the top floor of the Hotel with beautiful views to the nature. The restaurant serves dinner as well from à la carte -menu that changes seasonally. On nights, when we have live music, any celebration can be continued even after restaurant hours in our very own night club known as Äx-klubi.
Did you know that Finns have more saunas than cars? Relaxation, going to sauna and swimming in a lake during the summer are very embedded in the Finnish culture. Finns like to enjoy saunas and swimming all year round and one can enjoy that in our new swimming centre Loiske, witch is situated just next to the Hotel.
Architecture
The hotel building, completed in 1976, was designed by Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen. The architectural brothers’ design work was aimed at capturing the contrast between the site’s characteristic bedrock and the delicate nature surrounding it. At Hotel Mesikämmen, the visitor really steps “inside” nature.
